01 Overview

Nobody reads long documents in the middle of an outage, so runbooks have to be brief, specific and practised in advance. We write them for your ten most likely failures, such as a database at capacity, a backed-up queue, an expired certificate or an unreachable payment gateway, each stating the symptom, the check, the fix and the point to escalate. We also set up an on-call rota, an agreed severity scale and a blameless post-incident template, then run a practice incident to test the whole process before it is needed.
