01 Overview

Arguments about reports are usually arguments about definitions: marketing and finance each count customers differently, from different exports. We stand up a warehouse on Postgres or Snowflake, pull your sources in on a schedule and build dbt models over them, so a term like active customer has one definition, stored in version control and backed by a test that fails loudly when the data goes wrong. Documentation is generated straight from the models, so it never falls out of date.

Yes. Messy data is expected and is cleaned in the staging layer; anything that cannot be fixed is documented rather than hidden.
