A GitHub Actions pipeline that tests every pull request and deploys with approval and rollback, so releases stop relying on one person.
01 Overview
Hand-run releases break at the worst moment, usually when the only person who knows the steps is on leave. For up to three repositories we set up GitHub Actions so that each pull request is linted and tested, each merge produces a tagged container image, staging updates automatically and production waits for an approval. Reverting is one workflow run. Secrets are moved into scoped GitHub environments, and caching keeps the pipeline fast enough that people have no reason to work around it.
